Description
The Low Hum Fuzz is a hybrid silicon/germanium fuzz pedal that can deliver a wide range of organic fuzz tones that strike a balance between vintage fuzz and modern lead tones. Collin from Low Hum has adopted the pedal as his signature sonic coloring device, using it across multiple instruments in a variety of ways.
The Fuzz, Tone and Level knobs allow for a versatile platform to dial in fuzz sounds that suit Low Hum’s unique approach to tone blending, and can be applied across genres ranging from indie, to modern pop, to hard rock.
On the low side of the Fuzz control, a granular distortion coloring can be achieved, while the middle settings yield more sustained fuzz. The highest settings result in searing yet broken lead sounds that have become a defining part of Low Hum’s songs.
The Tone control helps to fatten up or tighten up the fuzz, while retaining the midrange in a way that allows any instrument to cut through the mix. There is plenty of volume on tap via the Volume knob to push a tube amp into saturation, or adequately color a solid state pedal platform.
The knobs and foot switch are specifically aligned so the fuzz knob can be controlled by your foot, while the other controls remain undisturbed. This adds another layer of playing dynamics that Low Hum has capitalized on in live performances and on their records.
The pedal comes in 3 color ways, Black/Silver, Army Green/Black and Sparkle Silver/Black.
